MORESCO-1 joined fellow institutions and community partners in the Xavier University Service-Learning Program (SLP) Summit 2026, reinforcing its commitment to collaborative, community-driven development and education.
Held as part of Xavier University’s Social Development Week, the summit gathered representatives from academic institutions, local government units, and partner organizations across Northern Mindanao to highlight the role of service-learning in translating academic knowledge into practical, community-responsive solutions.
Representing MORESCO-1 were members of the Human Resources and Development Department, Talakag Service Area Manager Reniel Cabantac. MORESCO-1 has been an active Service-Learning partner of Xavier University since 2021, supporting initiatives that align technical expertise with grassroots community needs.
During the event, Ms. Mae Ann Tabanao, MORESCO-1’s Learning and Welfare Section Head shared valuable insights and reflections as a Service-Learning Partner, emphasizing how the collaboration has strengthened community engagement while fostering innovative perspectives in addressing local challenges. She highlighted that partnerships like these not only benefit communities but also cultivate meaningful collaboration between institutions and future professionals.
The summit featured presentations of student-led projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), covering areas such as health, livelihood, environmental sustainability, and community development. It served as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth.
MORESCO-1’s participation underscores its continuing role beyond power distribution—actively engaging in educational partnerships that empower communities, nurture future leaders, and contribute to nation-building.
