NO HOLIDAY BREAK
Christmas and New Year’s Day are usually a break for linemen, except those assigned as emergency crew.
But several MORESCO-1 linemen had to give up their Christmas break (Talakag and Opol Service Areas) and New Year break (Manticao Service Area) to work on restoration efforts in Gingoog – Misamis Oriental 1st District for TSA and OSA and Siargao Island for MSA.
One of them is MORESCO 1 Lineman Juan Meguil Melendez Balacuit of Manticao SA assigned to the crew that will spend the New Year repairing downed power lines in the country’s surfing capital – Siargao.
Fondly called John Michael in M1, he said “My family is sad that I cannot be with them to welcome the New year 2022, but this is my work. It has been instilled in my mind and in the minds of our team members that we need to work, we need to help, we are in solidarity with our counterpart linemen from other ECs.
John Michael sent these photos yesterday approaching Surigao City showing how sorry is the state of the power lines in these areas.
They left today morning aboard a Philippine Navy ship to Siargao. Take care our Warriors of Light.
