NORMECA Sends Off Contingent for Task Force Kapatid: Bicol

November 13, 2025 | MORESCO-1 Compound, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental

In the true spirit of “Bayanihan,” the Northern Mindanao Electric Cooperatives Association (NORMECA) has once again responded to the national call for solidarity by deploying its contingents under Task Force Kapatid: Bicolandia, in aid of the electric cooperatives severely affected by Super Typhoon “Uwan.”

The official send-off took place today, November 13, 2025, at the MORESCO-1 Headquarters in Laguindingan, where line warriors and technical crews from the eight member-electric cooperatives of NORMECA gathered before embarking on their mission to help restore power in devastated areas across the Bicol Region.

Super Typhoon Uwan unleashed massive destruction across Luzon, crippling po

wer distribution facilities and leaving thousands of households in the dark. The Bicol Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (BECA) issued an urgent appeal for assistance, as the magnitude of damage overwhelmed local restoration teams.

Among the BECA member-ECs requiring Task Force Kapatid reinforcement are:

  • Albay Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ALECO) – 3 teams
  • Camarines Sur IV Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO IV) – 5 teams
  • First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO) – 8 teams

In coordination with the National Electrification Administration (NEA), National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives (NAGMEC) and the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA), NORMECA swiftly mobilized its member cooperatives to join hands for this humanitarian and technical mission.

Representing the strength and unity of Northern Mindanao, the Task Force Kapatid: Bicolandia contingent includes line teams from the following cooperatives:

  • Misamis Oriental 1 Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO-1)
  • Misamis Oriental 2 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO-2)
  • Misamis Occidental 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI-1)
  • Misamis Occidental 2 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI-2)
  • First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FIBECO)
  • Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BUSECO)
  • Camiguin Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CAMELCO)
  • Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LANECO)

These eight cooperatives form the backbone of NORMECA’s response team—once again proving that unity among ECs transcends regional boundaries when the call to serve arises.

The contingent, led by Engr. Antonio Obice, PHILATMEC Region 10 President, assembled at 11:00 A.M. at the MORESCO-1 compound before proceeding to Dapitan City Port (Puluan) for embarkation. From there, the teams will travel to Cebu and mobilize toward their assigned restoration areas in Bicol.

Personnel readiness and safety remain top priorities, with all linemen and support staff undergoing equipment checks, documentation verification, and safety briefings prior to deployment.

As NORMECA and its member-electric cooperatives stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their Bicol counterparts, this mission underscores the unwavering commitment of the electric cooperative movement to service beyond boundaries — lighting not just homes, but also rekindling hope in disaster-stricken communities.

Let us continue to uphold the values of service, compassion, and unity as we help rebuild and reenergize the lives of our fellow cooperatives in the Bicol Region.

MORESCO-1 Engages in Community Needs Assessment for Livelihood Programs in Barangay Cogon, El Salvador City

El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental | November 13, 2025
In its continuing commitment to empower communities and strengthen local partnerships, MORESCO-1 conducted a Community Needs Assessment for Livelihood Programs today at the Barangay Cogon Hall, El Salvador City.

The activity was spearheaded by MORESCO-1 Director John Derrick M. Lorono, and led by Member-Customer Development Chief Rio M. Vallejo together with Community Development Officer Engr. Romeo “Boy” Lubguban. The engagement forms part of MORESCO-1’s ongoing initiatives to support the socio-economic development of its member-consumers through capacity-building and sustainable livelihood planning.

The program was held in partnership with the Mindanao State University at Naawan’s DARES Center — short for Develops, Adopts, Responds, Encourages, and Sustains Center — which serves as the university’s extension and community development arm. The MSU-Naawan team was represented by Mr. Lyndon Roa and Mr. Rebino Batoto, who shared valuable insights and methodologies in identifying viable community-based livelihood interventions.

Representing Barangay Cogon were Kagawad Ever Domingo and the Federated Member-Consumer Organization (MCO) President of El Salvador Kagawad Jovito Ocon, who both expressed gratitude for MORESCO-1’s proactive engagement in understanding and addressing the local needs of their constituents.

Through this collaborative effort, MORESCO-1 continues to uphold its mission of being “Beyond Power” — energizing communities not only through electricity, but also through developmental partnerships that inspire resilience, inclusivity, and self-sufficiency among its member-consumers.

MORESCO-1 Joins the Nation in the November 2025 Observances of National Children’s Month and Filipino Values Month

This November 2025, MORESCO-1 proudly commemorates two important national observances — the National Children’s Month and the Filipino Values Month — both highlighting the nation’s commitment to nurturing and protecting the Filipino child and promoting the timeless values that define our people.

In observance of Republic Act No. 10661, otherwise known as the “National Children’s Month Act,” the Department of Education leads the 33rd National Children’s Month celebration with the theme:
“OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”

This year’s campaign calls for stronger collective action to end Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children and the spread of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (OSAEC-CSAEM) — issues that threaten the safety, dignity, and rights of every Filipino child. The celebration reminds us of our shared duty to protect the young and to create safe, supportive spaces for their growth and development.

At the same time, we also celebrate Filipino Values Month 2025, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 479, s. 1994, which enjoins all Filipinos to uphold the moral, spiritual, and cultural values that strengthen our national identity.

With the theme:
“Kagandahang-Loob, Katotohanan, at Bayanihan: Pundasyon ng Makabuluhang Pagkatuto at Matatag na Sambayanan,” this year’s observance encourages every Filipino to embody kindness, truth, and community spirit — values that nurture meaningful learning and build resilient, compassionate communities.

Let us live out these virtues every day — by being kind, truthful, and helpful, at home, in school, and in our workplaces. Together, let us show the true heart of a Filipinomaalalahanin, matapat, at handang maglingkod! ????????????
