Bloodletting activity in MORESCO-1 rolled out.

“If you’re a blood donor, you’re a hero to someone, somewhere, who received your gracious gift of life.”

Our own spontaneous version of TF “Kapatid” solidarity – a bloodletting activity in MORESCO-1 was rolled out last December 29, 2021 after a call to help a wife of our brother lineman from Talakag Service Area with the assistance from our friends from the Red Cross of the Philippines | 8am – 12nn. The wife requires immediate transfusion of 26 bags of Type “O” blood.

Our big thanks to our colleagues who heed the call for help from our own here in MORESCO-1.

NO HOLIDAY BREAK

Christmas and New Year’s Day are usually a break for linemen, except those assigned as emergency crew.

But several MORESCO-1 linemen had to give up their Christmas break (Talakag and Opol Service Areas) and New Year break (Manticao Service Area) to work on restoration efforts in Gingoog – Misamis Oriental 1st District for TSA and OSA and Siargao Island for MSA.

One of them is MORESCO 1 Lineman Juan Meguil Melendez Balacuit of Manticao SA assigned to the crew that will spend the New Year repairing downed power lines in the country’s surfing capital – Siargao.

Fondly called John Michael in M1, he said “My family is sad that I cannot be with them to welcome the New year 2022, but this is my work. It has been instilled in my mind and in the minds of our team members that we need to work, we need to help, we are in solidarity with our counterpart linemen from other ECs.

John Michael sent these photos yesterday approaching Surigao City showing how sorry is the state of the power lines in these areas.

They left today morning aboard a Philippine Navy ship to Siargao. Take care our Warriors of Light.

In The Philippines, the Bayanihan spirit is one of communal unity, helping others without expecting rewards, to achieve a certain goal. Among common enablers in a showcase of ‘bayanihan’ spirit during calamities are our linemen, aptly labelled as our “Warriors of Light”.

Linemen have been among the faceless unsung heroes who work tirelessly round the clock to clear and restore power lines that have been toppled by strong winds spawned by Odette when it unleashed it’s wrath among our areas.

Here our MORESCO-1 Gingoog Task Force Kapatid contingent, loading 35 feet steel poles for Barangay Kapitulangan in Gingoog City.
