August 26, 2025 – The Northern Mindanao Electric Cooperatives Association (NORMECA) has launched Task Force ZAMCELCO, a region-wide collaboration to enhance metering and collection efficiency for the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (ZAMCELCO). The first phase runs from August 26 to December 10, 2025, led by engineering teams mobilized under PHILATMEC–NORMECA.
Task Force ZAMCELCO brings together eight electric cooperatives from Region 10, namely:
- Misamis Oriental 1 Rural Electric Service Cooperative (MORESCO-1)
- Misamis Oriental 2 Electric Cooperative (MORESCO-2)
- Misamis Occidental 1 Electric Cooperative (MOELCI-1)
- Misamis Occidental 2 Electric Cooperative (MOELCI-2)
- First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FIBECO)
- Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BUSECO)
- Camiguin Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CAMELCO)
- Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LANECO)
NORMECA President Dr. Nonito M. Labis, DVM expressed gratitude for the support of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Philippine Association of Technical Managers of Electric Cooperatives (PHILATMEC), emphasizing that the initiative is a milestone in strengthening regional collaboration.
“This project reflects our collective resolve to improve power distribution—from Lanao del Sur to Zamboanga del Sur, and now Zamboanga City,” Labis said. “Upgrading metering facilities ensures more reliable monitoring of energy use, paving the way for better service delivery to the community.”
The effort underscores the commitment of Region 10’s cooperatives to stand as one, extending their technical expertise to a sister-EC, and reaffirming the power of cooperation in building stronger and more efficient electric service.
