
Talakag, Bukidnon | October 10, 2025 – The Misamis Oriental 1 Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO-1), in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Electrification Administration (NEA), successfully energized Purok 2B, Barangay 2, Talakag under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP), bringing electricity service to 35 households in the community.
The ceremonial energization was held at the residence of Mr. William Acala and attended by barangay officials, municipal representatives, MORESCO-1 leadership, and community members.
The program commenced with an invocation led by Ms. Sheena, followed by a welcome message from Hon. Dante D. Nallano, Barangay Captain of Barangay 2, Talakag.
Messages of support and commitment to rural electrification were delivered by representatives of local and national leaders, including Congressman Jose Manuel F. Alba (Bukidnon – First District) – Congressman Jose Manuel F. Alba, Congressman of Bukidnon-First District – represented by Ms. Marlyn “Wawam” Pajaron; Hon. Renato S. Sulatan Jr., Municipal Mayor of Talakag -represented by Talakag Municipal Administrator Alberto Bigcas; Hon. Vergito O. Factura, Vice Mayor – represented by Municipal Councilor, Bryan Lucky Z. Noble, alongside MORESCO-1 Board President Dir. Joy Gil S. Mahinay, Dir. Ritchie Veluz (caretaker director for Talakag District), and FARBECO Executive Director Mr. William Acala, the project’s recipient association.
A ceremonial turn-over of the Certificate of Completion was conducted, with Brgy. Captain Nallano delivering the acceptance message on behalf of the barangay.
The ceremony was further highlighted by the recognition of Councilor Bryan Lucky Z. Noble, former MORESCO-1 Director for Talakag, who received a Loyalty Ring and gift from ISD Manager Marebec O. Cagalawan in acknowledgment of his two-and-a-half terms of dedicated service and his role in facilitating SEP rollouts in the municipality.
The program concluded with closing remarks by Engr. Reniel A. Cabantac, Talakag Service Area Manager of MORESCO-1.
This particular SEP project amounted to a total of ₱1,678,631.40 (₱1,533,920.70 for distribution line and ₱144,710.70 for hardware), a vital investment for sustainable development in Talakag.
Through the Sitio Electrification Program, MORESCO-1 reaffirms its mission of energizing communities and empowering lives, ensuring that no household is left behind in the pursuit of progress and rural development.
The ceremony was paused for few minutes due to a powerful shaking brought about the earthquake of magnitude 7.6 (later revised to ~7.5 by PHIVOLCS) struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental at 9:43 a.m. today.
