MORESCO-1

Andres Bonifacio was a Filipino nationalist and revolutionary leader who played a key role in the Philippine struggle for independence against Spanish colonial rule in the late 19th century. He was born on November 30, 1863, in Tondo, Manila, Philippines.

Bonifacio is best known for being one of the founders and the supremo (leader) of the Katipunan, a secret society that aimed to liberate the Philippines from Spanish colonization through armed revolt. The Katipunan was instrumental in sparking the Philippine Revolution against Spanish rule in 1896.

Bonifacio, along with his fellow Katipunan members, led the early stages of the revolution. However, his leadership faced challenges, and internal conflicts within the revolutionary movement arose. Ultimately, Bonifacio was arrested and executed by Filipino revolutionary forces in 1897.

Despite his tragic end, Andres Bonifacio is remembered as a national hero in the Philippines. His contributions to the struggle for Philippine independence are commemorated annually on Bonifacio Day, usually observed on November 30^th but for this year, it will be celebrated on a Monday, November 27, 2023.
