Sofocado Secures Second Term as MORESCO-1 Director for District 5 – Libertad

LIBERTAD, MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Incumbent Director Bon Neil Emia Sofocado has been elected to a second three-year term as member of the Board of Directors of the Misamis Oriental-1 Rural Electric Service Cooperative, Inc. (MORESCO-1), representing District 5 – Libertad, following an uncontested district election held on the morning of April 11, 2026, at Libertad National High School.

Sofocado, 32, a young entrepreneur managing a growing portfolio of businesses in Libertad, continues to distinguish himself as one of the youngest directors ever elected in the cooperative’s 55-year history. First elected in 2023, he currently serves as Board Treasurer and is set to present the Treasurer’s Report during the upcoming 2026 Hybrid Sequential District Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA), which commences on April 28, 2026.

A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from Saint Paul University in Dumaguete City, Director Sofocado—fondly known as “Bonel”—has been recognized for bringing a dynamic, youth-driven perspective to cooperative governance, particularly in advancing financial stewardship and member-centered initiatives.

His official proclamation was conducted by the District Election Committee (DECOM), composed of Chairman Anthony Y. Pacamalan, Secretary Imelda Gallarita, and Member Marcel Tagalogon. The event was witnessed by key officials, including MORESCO-1 Board President Director Joy Gil S. Mahinay, General Manager Engr. Collen B. Tarcelo, PEE, OIC–Institutional Services Department Manager Marebec O. Cagalawan, members of the Management Committee, and representatives from various departments and partner institutions.

Also present during the proceedings were Manticao Service Area Manager Engr. Jogiepril Legaspi, Engineering Services Department Manager Engr. Marlon P. Gunita, National Electrification Administration (NEA) Representative Nonito M. Labis, along with local officials, member-consumer-owners (MCOs), and supporters from the Municipality of Libertad.

Director Sofocado is scheduled to take his oath of office during the 2026 MORESCO-1 Franchise-Wide Annual General Membership Assembly and 57th Founding Anniversary on May 16, 2026, at the MORESCO-1 Covered Court in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

District elections within MORESCO-1 are conducted by the DECOM in coordination with the respective Service Area Offices, with logistical support from the Institutional Services Department and oversight from the National Electrification Administration (NEA), ensuring transparency, credibility, and adherence to cooperative governance standards.

RESIDENTIAL POWER RATES, UG UBAN TARIPA SA BULAN SA MARSO 2026

PAGPA-SABOT:
