Happy Fiesta Laguindingan

MORESCO-1 joins our Member-Consumer-Owners, and the Local Government Unit of Laguindingan, and all its constituents in the celebration of the Fiesta in honor of the Exaltation of the Cross.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross, also called Universal Exaltation of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross or Holy Cross Day, liturgical feast celebrated on September 14 to honour the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. In the Eastern churches the feast dates back to the dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (the site of Christ’s tomb) in Jerusalem circa 335. It was adopted by the Roman Catholic Church in the 7th century and is also observed in various Protestant traditions, including Lutheranism and Anglicanism.

The universal symbol of the Christian faith, the cross represents Christ’s victory over death. The feast celebrates the redemptive transformation of a barbaric instrument of torture into a divine “tree of life” that brings hope to humankind. In some traditions, a cross is oriented to the cardinal directions to represent the universal nature of Christ’s sacrifice and prayers are said for the salvation of all.

Happy Fiesta Laguindingan.

Thank you and see you around Director Christopher G. Maagad

It is with heartfelt thanks that we mark the end of  Director Christoper G. Maagad’s service to the MORESCO-1 Board.  Chris has been a studied and august voice in the Board’s deliberations.  He has a great consideration for public trust and protection, high personal standards, and his passion is evidenced by his vast and ongoing involvement as the Treasurer of the Board grappling with the hardest issues facing the travails of the electric cooperative’s journey towards the modernization of its operations while still connected to the advocacy of the rural countryside’s missionary electrification program.

To simply express gratitude seems insufficient in this moment, but transitions often leave us at a loss for words as we consider all that has transpired.

Thank you Director Chris Maagad!
